After a really awesome show, it almost seemed unfair to have a winner because all the bands put on really bomb performances. But, in a BATTLE, someone's got to come out on top. In this case it was two someones. Because it was our first time putting on a show, things changed around and didn't really come out like originally planned. (Hey, cut us some slack. We're learning!) So, it turned out that we had two separate competitions as opposed to what was originally going to be one. One was based off of the audience polls (which really could have been jipped because of sneaky cheaters sticking millions in at a time - but oh well, because you can bet fans from every band did that. It was truly a battle of the FANS!), and the other was based off of judges scores. The audience poll winner (which was under the category of Audience Response) won the 200 bucks at Guitar Center. The judges average scores over three judges (yes two didn't show up, and we wont name names, Chris) and nine categories (see the Competition section for a list) ranked the bands, and the first place winner received a chance to be on KWOD radio! Every bands dream!

OK, enough rambling. The winner of the audience poll (by a long shot) and receiver of the $200 shopping spree at Guitar Center was:

WITHOUT A DOUBT!

The winner of the judges ratings and receiver of a chance to be on KWOD, with a score of 191 out of 200, was:

ROYALE!

(You can click here to download Royale's awesome single, Riot.)

We can't announce winners without giving credit to the runners-up so, in the audience poll, 2nd place was Plead The Fifth, 3rd was Royale, and 4th was Red Collar! Actual numbers were lost (SORRY!) - we'll do better next time.

Here are the rankings and scores (out of 200) from the judges:

  • 1. Royale (191)
  • 2. Somerset (161)
  • 3. Best Tomorrow (147)
  • 4. Red Collar (141)
  • 5. Without a Doubt (130)
  • 6. Plead The Fifth (129)
  • 7. Dissimilar (127)
  • 8. Requires No Assistance (124)
  • 9. Another Empty Evening (120)
  • 10. Augmented Minds (85)

We give credit to the Plead The Fifth crowd. They were by far the noisiest out there - with their encore chants and their loud booing when they found out that their idols got in second - not first. They also put in all their votes before the band even played (which isn't hard considering they were last to perform). Now that's loyalty!

How about a couple high-fives to the two 7th grade bands: Augmented Minds and Requires No Assistance! These guys with all of their might provided a great warm-up to the energy of the night. (Rhyme!!) RNA even got higher scores than some of the older bands!

We apologize to all Audiotribe fans. Due to some band-related problems beyond our control they could not be there to play that night. But, they did give us some free CDs to send out, and you can most definitely assure that they will be at our next show.

ALSO:

We understand that it was originally intended that there be a winner in each category and that every band win a prize, but due to time constraints and, we'll admit, some procrastination, we were not able to offer a prize to every band. Instead, it was going to be that we would post up the category winners on this site and kind of "credit" the prizes to them. However, this is not possible. We are extremely sorry to all of those who excited about winning something no matter what. Our efforts are to fix this situation so that next time we able to do it right. But, on the bright side, your bands name is on the Internet for all to see! Moral of the story is: Don't put things off!
