After a long day of bringing it all together, we are pleased to say that the May 29th Battle of the Bands at Golden Hills School was a greater success than we could have even imagined. We have so many people to thank for that, but none are more important than you - the fans. We may have provided the venue, and the bands may have provided the entertainment, but a show is not a show without the audience. Because of this, you can surely bet there will be another show pretty soon, and it will be even better than this one.
Here are the rest of the people we'd like to thank:
- Guitar Center for their $200 gift certificate
- KWOD for promoting this event and providing some MCing and free stickers
- 98 Rock for also promoting this event
- Mad City Pizza for selling the pizza (dur)
- Golden Hills School for allowing us to trash their gym
- Rob Ringger from Ringger Studios for all of the audio stuff (mixing, mics, and doing a live CD-quality recording of each band)
- Resco Printing - for providing all flyers and handouts and the speakers
- All of those people who volunteered for security or stamp patrol
- Thermacraft for making those nifty PP stamps
- Dave Jensen for allowing all the bands to bang around his drumset
- All of the judges - at least the ones that showed up
- THE BANDS of course!
- Dan Jenks for helping recruit bands and putting the show together
- Denis Rouleau (blindphotographer.net) for taking hot pics of the bands. (Go down to the PowerChord Productions Battle of the Bands link on the website posted above to see the hot pics he took.)
- All those who helped set up and clean up
- Scott Arbuckle for providing some concessions and mucho support. Oh yeah, and for the FOG MACHINE. Props to that!
- Retired El Dorado County Sheriffs for providing parking lot and traffic control
Just in case you were a total bum living in a box under a rock and did not come, you can check out the results of the competition here. You can also see some photos of the bands.
